Guns

The only way to keep guns out of the hands of the mentally ill is to keep the law making out of the hands of the morally corrupt.

You shouldn't have an assault weapon if your aim is so bad you need an AK47 to kill a deer. Why not use a drone & kill a heard from home?

When I was a kid we lived in really bad neighborhood, for years I thought Santa Claus broke down your front door and slept with your mother.

  2. Guns seem to be a huge controversy. Because the US is large with varied geography, people's interests, sports, hobbies, etc. are usually in keeping with their environment. Wouldn't that seem to call for the gun decision to be the responsibility of the individual States?

    1. The key word is responsible to the people or to the gun manufacturers who pay for our candidates elections. What we need is the truth to be reported by the media (on both sides of the issue) and liars should be called on the carpet. Once that is done we might be able to get responsible guns laws that makes sense to the majority of people based on reality, morality and not money. It serves all our purposes.

    1. That's what I feel but unfortunately the gun manufacturers have too much power in congress.

  4. A healthy, logical balance is what matters most, I think, but that's hard to find on hot topics like gun control. Media rarely helps.

My husband and I were marveling at your resume highlights, that's a pretty impressive career you've got under your belt!

    1. You hit the nail on the head. A health logical balance based on the truth and a media that is willing to tell the truth and not pander.

Thanks, but work is work and so much of TV is a lot of hype and most time unrewarding, if you care. There are so many stories I could tell about the idiots who are put in charge. One of the reasons I respect my friend Larry David so much is that he stood his ground. He would quit every year and Jerry would back him. Those guys had real integrity.

    2. Ah, I'm sorry to hear it isn't as glamorous as it sounds. It's still a cool resume though. :)

I think there are idiots at every job...like you said, 'work is work.' I've been very fortunate to have great bosses for most of my life, but the one I had who was lacking in integrity made me miserable (well not me, but she made think going to work was miserable), so I can relate to that perspective, for sure.

    3. There are those kind in every business. And I've come across a the worst in the ten years or so. A group of amoral people who will say anything to anyone to get want they want, while at the same time, I would see this one guy, help an old women across the street. But other than that he had no scruples, he do anything to anyone and find some kind of warped justification in his mind. And that was just one. It was like a nest of them. But they sleep with a clear conscience because they are sociopaths.

    1. If there was a drone lobby, I sure they'd fight to legalize them under the second amendment.

  6. So true on the first two, the US is so backasswards for a so called first world nation, acts like a third world one with all the stupidity.

    3. That's funny Anne. Pat you better be quiet up there. You never know how much they're listening!

Pat I'm not sure that would work, the one sophisticated thing we have in this country is our military. I wish we put that much importance into our social issues.

  7. Guns!!! What a topic. Although I like my guns, I am law abiding. I have them locked in a huge safe that would take 10 men and a boy to carry out. When we moved to this house, it took over 2 hours to move this safe about 25 feet. IT IS HEAVY!!

Guns do need to be kept out of the hands of criminals... not sure how to do that because if they can't steal them... they would just build their own. It is not really that hard to do.

    Have a GREAT day John!

    1. It is a hard thing to legislate, but we have some very smart people in this country who I'm sure if they were left alone to find real common ground they could do it.

You are responsible. Like I've mentioned my neighbor has a few guns and is very responsible. And with the people he has to deal with, which is the rap music world I can understand his need for them since they enter his home.

  8. I'm just so tickled by this John. I really am in favor of gun control. What people don't understand is that it doesn't mean their guns will be taken completely away. Back home I can still hunt and I can use my rifles for personal protection.

And those people who say they need their guns to keep them safe from the government really aren't thinking very clearly. The US has the largest and most proficient military in the world. Your AK47 is like a pop gun compared to the can of whoop ass they'll bring to your front door.

    1. You are absolutely right. This isn't the military of 1776. Back then you could deal the military now they'd wipe us out in a heart beat. We need sensible gun control, immigration laws, a single payer government run health care system (like most industrialized nations.

  9. I don't understand why you would need assault rifles or automatic weapons as a non military person...

    1. I don't know either. I can understand people collecting them but they should be rendered inferable. Did you know that there is a way to trace all gun powder back to its source which would really help prevent crime, but the gun lobby prevented our government and police from using it. It could save so many lives, not just citizens but the lives of our law enforcement people.
